How Can I Afford Babysitting?

So, I'm gonna make this story as short as possible, but I'm expecting unexpectantly. (thanks nuva-ring) Anyway, hubby and I are sort of stuck in a very precarious situation when it come to affording this child. I bring in about $2000/month. I would like to bring in more but basically I have looked and looked- and sort of stuck. (I have a degree in dental hygiene- but with oversatuation in my field- jobs are few and in-between) So I'm very grateful for what I have, but… Our budget is tight. Hubby only makes $1000/month. With company cutbacks, everyone took a major salary decrease. He can't leave the company to start looking for a new job until after we have the baby- and that's because I'm under his insurance (the copay is bad enough for the upcoming hospital bill)
Well, obviously we both have to work, but when I tried to find out how much child care was going to cost- anywhere from $1000-1500/month!! Even though I only work about 2 full days a week, the child cars facilities want to charge me for full time because I don't have a set work schedule. It's hit and miss- I can work 3 hours on Monday then a full Tuesday and a half day thurday… Then the next week it be completely different hours with different days. I tLkex to my boss about this and she said basically it is what it is and that's that. We have no family to rely on here, so thats out. We tried to figure out a way for my husband to be a stay at home dad- but we can't do that. It's just too expensive to live. We can't get gov. assistance- over the poverty line. So now what? I'm trying not to stress out, for the baby's sake- but honestly it's a little hard. Any tips?

Suggestion:

I live in Boston which is an expensive area and most childcare is not that expensive. You need to keep looking becayse that is outrageous and not the normal rate for daycare. Also IF that is what it is going to cost and thats what you are insisting it is, why cant your husband stay home? his income would basically just be payng for daycare so why doesnt he just stay home and get a weekend job to bring in money and you can keep your job during the week?

Im in a city where infant care is up to 1375.00 a month. right now I am paying $1275.00 a month for my son to go to daycare 5 days a week full time. Yeah daycare is expensive. You should keep looking and see if the daycare has half of days? I don't know what to say, cause the prices are HORRIBLE!!! Good luck!!

I may be able to help you if you are open to it.. Please take a look at my blog I will list a few posts that you should take a look at.. its not for everyone but its just a suggestion..
