I am looking into the trade schools as well because they are much closer than the campus I would have to go to for my current school but they are also for profit and will charge a lot more.
I have an 11 month old and am 13 weeks pregnant with #2 so I wouldn't start till fall. husband works full time so I would have to figure out child care for me to go to school all day. School offers but only for children that are a year and a half and up so that still would leave my newborn.
Husband is being no help in my decision so I am trying to get advice from others on what I should do. If I should risk the loans to go to a trade school and not get a job because they are not as highly looked on. Or just attempt for my current school and drive an hour plus to school as well as leaving my babies in day care all day while I am at school and hubby is at work.
I don't want to leave them but I want to finish school so that I can get a job and husband can go back to school and get a degree.
Is the part-time dental assisting program at your community college held during hours when your husband can be at home with the kids? If so, then that might be your best solution. He could be home while you're at class, you could be home when he's at work – you're trading off childcare during those two years, saving money and stress.
A lot of parents do this. It's not ideal, no; but it really can work if you're both willing to try this. But talk to him about the idea.
