Children's Dental Surgery, Please Help.?

My son is three years old and is scheduled for a dental surgery soon. He has some decay on his teeth. He also has a slight flow murmur; he has never been referred to a cardiologist for this murmur.

They are planning to place veneers on his two front teeth, and they are also wanting to cap two others.

I am extremely anxious about this surgery.

Could someone please tell me more? Any info about surgeries, anesthesia in young children, any information, please. I don't know if I should even go through with this, but I am worried that if I do not get them to fix this decay, it may cause problems.

Answer:

Go through with it. You will be glad you did.
Anesthesia is used in young kids for surgery because it is faster for the doctor and more painless for the child. I understand why you would worry but anesthesia is safe. The anesthesiologist will know what they're doing.
If you don't fix any problems they will become larger cavities and will eventually be "serious" enough to affect the adult teeth when they come in.
My son is 5 and we went through this a few months ago. We went with the surgery/hospital/anesthesia because it would've been less traumatizing for him than being awake at the dentist's office. I admit I was nervous with the sedation too but it was the best for him. He had to have 3 pulpotomies and caps and everything was fine :)

All the best

I can't answer this question, but I wish you and your son luck on the surgery : )
