Suggestion:
You shouldn't date a guy who judges you on apperance. I had crooked teeth and my boyfriend loved me for who I was. Boys will understand that you'll be getting braces and braces will not make you look ugly. I thought the same way until I got mine and they looked quite cool. Look at how mkany people in your class have braces. It's like the 'in' thing. People in my class WANT braces even if they dont need them.

It obviously depends on how crooked the teeth are now. If they are very crooked then obviously it will make a difference. What is less known is that attractive faces tend to have straight teeth naturally and unattractive faces tend to have more crooked teeth. There is an underlying trend that if a face grows forward giving good bone structure, like Kate Moss, there will be more space for the teeth. If it grows more down (due to hanging your mouth open and chewing soft modern food) and less forward the bone structure will not be as pronounced and there will be less space for the teeth.
This is a slightly catch 22, as orthodontic treatment (mainly railway tracks, especially headgear) tends to pull the face further down during treatment. Consequently the treatment aligns the teeth but does not improve the face- see http://www.orthodontic-outrage.com for more information on this. So it is a balance that you need to make a decision on, as is life.
Some specialists are trying to open a debate on what causes the teeth to be crooked in the first place, since once we understand it will be possible to give good advice to people like you. Although it may not help you now you could join the petition on facebook Y Crooked Teeth, so that in time we can help others.
I hope that in some way this helps. My best advice is that if in doubt, leave it, after treatment the teeth will only stay straight if you wear a retainer for ever and no treatment is without side effects.

No way, i had loads of boyfriends before i had my teeth fixed. One of them said it was just part of me. I do understand though, mine made me feel ugly but try not to focus on it. Remind yourself its not forever. I know lots of pretty girls that have not so straight teeth and i dont notice them.
