I Had a Frenectomy Done Nine Days Ago and I'm Still in a Lot of Pain Behind My Teeth. Did Something Go Wrong?

I have braces and had to get a labial frenectomy done so that my gap wouldn't open again. I had the frenulum remove with laser. The front part between the teeth and under lip is healing ok. However the back (behind the teeth) hurst badly still. It is not infected, but it is swollen and I feel pain when i eat, when i drink, and at rest even. When I touch it with my tongue, I get transferred pain to other areas in my mouth… what is going on? Is this normal? it doesn't feel like it is getting any better. I'm going to the doctor next week, but I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. Is this pain normal after this long? Could he have done something wrong? It almost feels as if some nerves were exposed or something (sort of like when you have a really bad cavity where even air makes it hurt) it's that kind of pain. Please help!

Suggestion:

This usually doesn't happen, especially after a week and a half. I would have it looked at, as there may be some infection that has developed. Good luck.
