Wisdom Teeth Pain- from Personal Experience?

I am getting all four wisdom teeth pulled on Friday morning. I want to get these tickets for a motocross show on Saturday night. From personal experience, will I be too much in pain to go? I don't know if I should even buy the tickets.
thanks

Answer:

It really depends on how badly the teeth are positioned but as a general rule don't plan anything for at least three days and only plan on doing comfortable things for the following seven. It doesn't mean you won't be functional, it means don't take the risk. There's a good chance you'll being tossing you cash away.

i don't think you should go. i know you really want to but it would be better and more fun at a later time when you're not biting on cotton to make the blood clot. you have to bite on it so that the blood will clot and you have to spit it out and put in fresh cotton cause the old will get full of blood. of course you have to take them out to eat, but you can't drink through straws for awhile, even after the blood clots, cause the sucking action of that can pull the blood clots out, and you have to be careful of what you eat. also, it's hard to talk with your mouth full of cotton.

when i had all four of mine pulled, it was on a thursday morning, and i had to bite on cotton all day long, as well as for the next two days. then on sunday, i didn't have to wear it no more cause the blood finally clotted, but my mouth was still aching some. but, after the blood clots and you don't have to bite on cotton anymore, you will have to be careful about how you smile and about how far you open your mouth to eat, talk and laugh. if you smile too wide or open too wide to talk or laugh or even take a bite of food, your mouth will start to ache and the skin around where your wisdom teeth were will feel like it's being stretched. for me, this only lasted like maybe two or three days after the blood finally clotted.

yes, all of this is from personal experience. my mouth was achy, i couldn't smile very well, and i had to take small bites of soft foods, before the blood clotted and about a day or two afterward, and i had to drink gatorade. i also had to be very careful when talking and laughing.

a few tips: first, no drinking out of straws, or the clots can come out. the dentist should give you a list of things to not do, such as drinking out of straws and how to take care of the clotting, but i would ask him/her for an idea on how long to wait before drinking out of straws again. second, i had to sleep sitting up in a recliner that whole weekend. if you do that too, try not to let your head lean forward too much cause one of those nights, my pillow ended up with a large blood stain cause i drooled on it. third, i ended up taking advil for the pain cause the percocet they gave me made my head and stomach hurt.

I wouldn't recommend it. My hubby had his pulled last Friday the 5th and he missed all 5 days of work this week and he is just now beginning to recover. The day after removal is when the feeling is back and starts to ache and swell. The swelling and pain were worse on day 3-5 for him…Then on day 5 the swelling started to go down and on day 6 the pain started to reduce. He is now only taking Ibuprofen instead of the Percocet.
