What would be the medication in the injection or the pill?
If the pill is something they prescribed for anxiety, then it's probably up to you to decide if you need it & how nervous you feel. I was scared to death to get mine out. But I didn't take any pill or anything to relax myself beforehand & I did fine.
If by IM injection you mean the surgeon offered to sedate you, which would be given to you IV and not IM, I personally recommend it. I was sedated for it & the whole thing was a breeze.
Either way, they need to be aware of any medication in your system when they do the surgery. Don't take anything they don't give or prescribe you without talking to them about it first.
You should definitely talk to your oral surgeon or dentist who will be doing the procedure. They will be able to help you with any questions about it.
