These kits can be found in the form of strips, trays and brush applicators. Whitening strips contain a gel component and are applied on the teeth front to whiten them. Whitening trays are filled with a gel and kept in the mouth for a few hours a day, oftentimes the whole night. Brush applicators are submerged into a bleaching gel and then brushed onto the teeth. These products work through oxidizing agents, such as peroxide, that help remove discoloration on the teeth enamel, and other ingredients that help break downthe substance that promotes yellowing of the teeth.
These products address discoloration in much similar fashion as whitening treatment at the dentist would, but with a lower level of peroxide. It is an inexpensive method, and a number of these products do work as advertised with constant application for a significant period of time.
