Weight Lose Diets | a Million Ways to Get Skinny

Weight lose diets – a million ways to get skinny, or that’s the way it seems when we have a look at the internet, TV, magazines and any other expression of the media. Wherever you turn on the internet for instance you will see an ad that promises you you’ll be skinny as a stick in no time, by way of surgery, diet pills, exercise, shakes, fiber pills, only consuming 10 calories a day (I’m exaggerating of course) and what not.

Who wants to hear more vain bla bla? When you look behind the facade, who do you think the authors and inventors of all these get-slim-instantly-without-any-effort methods really care about? Well first and foremost their bank accounts. So what if you get sick in the process of using their latest fad in weight loss? As long as you lost some weight quickly and visibly, though it may to last til next Sunday.

Do you know the kind of stuff you’re putting into your body to lose weight? I know of some herbal weight loss teas (sounds all natural and healthy right and is all natural too) that have the potential to give you heart problems (and I know people that had to be hospitalized for consuming such things). Some people even have gone as far as to actually having acquired a tape worm or it’s larvae to keep slim, and yes that’ll get you skinny, and very malnourished, not to mention: ewhh! Other products use chemicals (have you ever read the ingredient label on diet foods? Do you even know what some of that stuff is that’s in there? Sure it has few calories, but is it actually better for you than regulated amounts of the real thing?)

Rest assured that in none of these programs or products you’ll find a word that will explain that sudden weight loss of several pounds in a couple of days is mostly due to loss of water. Neither will you find any explanations about the reason behind the wow-effect of your reduced waistline in only a day! – a long overdue and healthy bowel movement. You even feel lighter, don’t you?

One pound of body fat equals 3,500 calories. In order to lose some pounds you have two choices: or you eat fewer calories than your body uses on a daily basis (500 less a day to rid yourself of a pound a week to be exact) or you burn it off exercising. One hour on the elliptical machine evaporates around 600 calories; an hour of swimming will do pretty much the same. So adding up the numbers you’ll figure out quickly that 10,000 calories don’t just disappear in a couple of days.

What it comes down to is that if they tell you that you’re going to lose three pounds in only two days, know it for what it is: a cute story. Stepping onto your scale you actually might feel the need to agree with them, you’ve definitely lost weight, at least for the first week maybe, but looking at the facts, what was it that you actually lost? Well, for one thing it wasn’t body fat. Instant weight loss of several pounds in only a couple of days regularly is to say you lost bowel contents and water.

Ok, all this talk about what doesn’t work. Well, what does? How will I manage to lose the weight I need to get rid of? If you were hoping for a quick fix that won’t cost you anything but some money, I’ll have to disappoint you. The kind of weight loss you need and should want, the healthy and lasting kind, will only be achieved through an adjustment in your lifestyle. Of course, using a good, healthy method to combine the right kinds of (real) foods to give you a good shove in the right direction is a good idea. But in the end you will have to decide once and for all what and how much food is going to do you good.
